On Thursday 6 November Montessori Academy celebrated the Grand Opening of its state-of-the-art childcare facility at Barangaroo.
The Grand Opening was attended by Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney, Clover Moore, who officially declared the centre open.
The Lord Mayor congratulated Montessori Academy on the centre’s outstanding educational facilities, which will provide educational childcare for up to 90 children aged six weeks to six years.
She also discussed to the importance of high-quality education and childcare as a necessary resource for working parents in Sydney City.
“There’s not just a need for childcare, but for high quality education and care, which encourages and supports children to learn and develop.
“Educational childcare also helps parents by allowing them to retain their skills, and not to suffer the career disruptions that long periods out of the workforce inevitably entail,” said Lord Mayor Clover Moore.
The Grand Opening provided prospective parents, children, and members of the local community with the opportunity to view the centre’s facilities and resources.
Guests learned about the principles and philosophy of Montessori Education, interacted with the Montessori materials, and met the passionate educators who will be working at the centre.
Colette Assaf, Director of Montessori Academy, said: “We are delighted to be opening this centre in the heart of Sydney’s Central Business District to meet the growing need for childcare by parents who live and work around the City.
“This centre is a beautiful facility, and I truly believe that children will learn and thrive here. We look forward to establishing relationships with the local families and becoming part of this community,” she said.
Barangaroo Montessori Academy officially opened on Tuesday 27th January 2015.
