Randwick childcare centre coming to Newmarket Precinct in 2024

Randwick’s iconic Newmarket House at 7 Young Street, Randwick NSW 2031, will be transformed into a Montessori childcare centre in 2024.* This will be Montessori Academy Group’s first early learning centre in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The upcoming childcare expects to welcome children aged 0 to 6 years across spectacular play areas and five classrooms.

Standing proudly in the heart of Randwick City Council, the heritage-listed house is symbolic of local racing history in Randwick’s Newmarket Precinct. The DA-approved project will include the restoration of Victorian architectural delights, extension into a two-story wing, added basement parking, and magnificent landscaping to inspire children’s exploration and independence.

Proudly, this is Montessori Academy’s second heritage-listed childcare transformation project. In 2019, they partnered with Verity Construction to refurbish previously derelict and heritage-listed ‘Brooklyn’ into Montessori Academy’s present-day Burwood Road campus.

The upcoming Randwick Newmarket Precinct childcare will offer an outstanding Montessori curriculum in a long day care format. Once operational*, the Montessori daycare will offer nutritious catered meals, convenient pick-up & drop off parking and will operate Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm.

Randwick Montessori Academy will offer a rich alternative to play-based childcare that embraces children’s interests at each stage of their early learning journey. Their guiding philosophy is to celebrate children as individuals through an engaging and adaptable Montessori curriculum. Individual learning styles and milestones are interwoven into daily activities, including the Montessori work cycle, music, movement, outdoor play, and more. Through this holistic approach to education, Montessori Academy successfully nurtures well-rounded children, not just for school but for a lifetime of independence and self-confidence.

Montessori Academy’s chief operating officer Rami Nassif enthusiastically acknowledges, “It’s not every day that we have the privilege of leading a heritage transformation project such as Randwick Newmarket House. Montessori early education is an aid for life, and I am confident that Montessori Academy will invigorate and affirm the landmark that Newmarket House was, is, and will continue to be.”
