Randwick, NSW – Montessori Academy is delighted to announce construction and fit-out completion of their newest childcare and preschool centre located at 7 Young St, Randwick, NSW 2031. The new centre is set to cater for up to 86 children across five classrooms, providing Montessori early education to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
Following a multi-million dollar investment to redevelop and transform Randwick’s iconic Newmarket House into an early learning centre, this will be Montessori Academy’s first campus in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. With many eager families on the waitlist, the first day of operations expected to be in 2025 Q1, pending licensing approval.
Situated in the heart of Randwick City Council, the heritage-listed house is symbolic of local racing history in Randwick’s Newmarket Precinct. The restorations protect the Victorian architecture, while expanding the space into a two-story wing, with added basement parking and extensive landscaping to inspire children’s exploration and independence.
Situated in the heart of Randwick City Council, the heritage-listed house is symbolic of local racing history in Randwick’s Newmarket Precinct. It is the sole surviving building from the Newmarket Training Stables built by artist Joseph Fowles in the early 1860s and was named after the renowned English racing centre in Suffolk. The original stables complex featured three 100 ft long stable blocks, with Newmarket House completing the fourth side of the quadrangle.
Throughout its history, the complex has seen various owners and uses, including serving as a hotel, hosting notable horse trainers and owners such as Michael Fennelly, James White, and Thomas Payten, as well as being a place of business for the successful Inglis Family.

Montessori Academy’s Randwick centre will follow the Montessori philosophy – a child-centred educational approach that fosters independence, self-directed learning, and respect for each child’s pace and interests. It is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, discover, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
“We are excited to bring Montessori education to the families of Randwick and the Eastern Suburbs, particularly as part of this heritage transformation project of Randwick Newmarket House.” said Rami Nassif, Chief Operations Officer of Montessori Academy.
“Our new centre will offer an exceptional early learning experience that promotes children’s natural curiosity and development. We’re looking forward to opening our doors in this historic landmark building and serving the children and families of this vibrant community.”
