Montessori Academy Celebrates Grand Opening of its First Early Learning Campus in the ACT

On Saturday 16th February 2019, Montessori Academy celebrated the completion of construction for its first Montessori early learning campus in the Australian Capital Territory with a lively Grand Opening Family Fun Day. The event marked an exciting milestone for Gungahlin childcare, as the new centre opened its doors to families eager to discover a nurturing Montessori environment right in the heart of their community. This occasion brought together parents, children, and educators to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in early childhood education for the rapidly growing Gungahlin region.

The highly anticipated opening of Gungahlin Montessori Academy, located in Marketplace Gungahlin, was attended by more than 830 guests who gathered for a celebration of community, family, and Montessori early childhood education.

The event commenced with guided tours of the campus’ five uniquely designed Montessori classrooms, jungle-themed play space, and Montessori workshops explaining the Montessori Education Program, Materials and Curriculum.

Following, were the formalities thanking Montessori Academy’s Centre Set Up Team, Verity Construction, Supercontext, Wallaringa Consulting, Manuel’s Maintenance Solutions, Vinta Group, Marketplace Management, and the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

Director of Montessori Academy, Colette Assaf, said: “In the capital city of Australia, big things happen; in politics, science, research, education, business and the arts. So, when the perfect opportunity arose to include a Montessori Academy in Marketplace Gungahlin, we immediately knew that that we had to join this amazing community.”

She continued: “It is our role as educators and parents to journey hand-in-hand with our children; to not only celebrate and nurture the miracle that is a child, but also to help them to achieve their full potential using the guiding principles of Montessori Education.”

Throughout the event, guests enjoyed a variety of entertainment, including picnicking, pony cycle rides, face painting, balloon twisting, and participating in the centre’s dedicated activity zones for gross motor, dramatic play, music and movement, and sandpit play.

Gungahlin Montessori Academy is the first Montessori early learning centre to open in the ACT, in the rapidly developing region of Yerrabi. It is Montessori Academy’s 27th campus to open in Australia.

Gungahlin Montessori Academy is a catered Montessori long day child care service for children aged between six weeks and six years.

The campus is currently taking preliminary Waiting List and Enrolment Applications while the campus undergoes assessment for Service Approval by the Department of Education.
