Montessori Academy achieves acclaimed ISO Certifications in first for Australian childcare sector

By Montessori Academy26/05/25

Montessori Academy has become the first childcare group in Australia to achieve ISO certification in three globally recognised standards, setting a new benchmark for quality in the sector. The leading childcare provider has been certified in Quality Management (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 4001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 45001). Developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), the standards establish global frameworks for excellence.

Rami Nassif, Chief Operating Officer at Montessori Academy, said: “This milestone reflects our investment in training, quality assurance, workplace health and safety, and sustainability across all centres. It allows us to measure our performance against rigorous international standards and ensure we are following global best practice across the organisation.”

Securing the certifications sees Montessori Academy join the ranks of other ISO-accredited organisations, including Microsoft and Monash University. It involves a rigorous process as well as a review by an independent third party to confirm that the Standard is properly implemented. It is part of Montessori Academy’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality care and education to children in a safe and nurturing environment, which is underpinned by its Commitment to Child Safety Statement.

Mr Nassif added: “We have a relentless focus on quality and continuous improvement and are always on the lookout for ways to go above and beyond regulatory requirements. That’s why we proactively pursued these certifications and will continue to explore how we can further enhance our offering for children and families.”

The Quality, Environmental Management and Health and Safety standards were selected as they are areas which are key to Montessori Academy’s offer of high-quality learning environments that inspire independence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. The Standards have been implemented across Montessori Academy centres across Australia, where 1,000 dedicated educators and staff care for more than 5000 children.

Achieving the Standards is another milestone for Montessori Academy after it received the prestigious ‘Great Place to Work’ certification. This recognition underscores its commitment to excellence in early childhood education, professional development, and the wellbeing of our educators and children.
