Montessori Academy Announces Second Childcare in Belmore

By Montessori Academy10/06/25

Montessori Academy is thrilled to announce that construction is officially underway for Montessori Academy’s second Belmore childcare campus. Located at 427-735 Burwood Road, next door to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and 100m from the new Belmore Metro, this brand-new multi-use development marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering exceptional Montessori education to more children and families across South Western Sydney. This project will repurpose the former Belmore RSL Club into a purpose-built early learning and intergenerational care facility, thoughtfully designed to serve as a vibrant hub for families and the wider community.

As one of Australia’s leading providers of Montessori early education, our expansion in Belmore is driven by a deep commitment to offering high-quality learning environments that inspire independence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. The new centre is currently under construction and is expected to open in late 2026.

A Multi-Use Development in Belmore

Once completed, our new multi-use development in Belmore will feature a childcare, wellness and fitness centre, modern medical centre and in-home aged and disability care provided by our sister brand Montessori Care.

The multi-use development will include:

  • 112 place childcare centre, for children aged 0-6 across six classrooms
  • Dedicated outdoor play spaces on both levels
  • Accessible two-storey facility, with new lift access
  • Amenities including a full kitchen, laundry, reception, staff facilities and more
  • 300m² intergenerational care space to connect children, seniors and individuals living with disability to foster relationships and community

We are especially excited to integrate intergenerational care, bringing children, seniors, and people with disabilities together for shared programs and meaningful connections, creating a vibrant hub designed to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life for everyone in Belmore.

A Purpose-Built Montessori Early Learning and Preschool Environment in Belmore

Once completed, our new Belmore Central childcare centre will offer 112 childcare places across six classrooms, catering to children aged six weeks to six years. Every aspect of the centre has been designed with the Montessori philosophy in mind, ensuring a nurturing and enriching space where children can learn at their own pace.

The centre will feature:

  • Six Montessori classrooms designed with the interests and developmental needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
  • Outdoor play areas on both levels, designed to promote physical wellbeing, exploration, movement, social development, and a connection with nature
  • Allocated on-site parking for safe and convenient drop-off and pick-up for families
  • A full suite of Montessori materials in each classroom, aligned with the five areas of the Montessori Curriculum: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture

These purpose-built spaces will offer an optimal environment for children to thrive, supporting the unique developmental needs of each age group and embedding the core Montessori principles of independence, order, concentration, coordination, and respect.

Montessori Education Programs at Belmore Central

Our education programs are tailored to support children at every stage of early development. Each classroom offers a consistent, harmonious, and structured environment that encourages hands-on, self-directed learning. Here’s what families can expect from each program:

Montessori Infant Program (0–2 years)

The Infant Program at our Belmore Central daycare centre provides a calm, nurturing environment that supports babies through the earliest and most important stages of development. During this sensitive period, infants are encouraged to explore the world through movement, sensory exploration, language, and hands-on interaction with Montessori materials.

The program is designed to support each child’s unique developmental milestones, including fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, early language acquisition, and social connection. Educators guide children through age-appropriate Practical Life activities, such as grasping, self-feeding, and dressing, which help build independence and confidence from the very beginning.

Our Montessori-trained educators focus on creating secure, trusting relationships, providing consistency and care that fosters emotional security and encourages positive social interactions. With a strong emphasis on respect for each child’s individual rhythm, the Infant Program lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning, independence, and discovery.

Montessori Toddler Program (2–3 years)

As toddlers begin to assert their independence, the Montessori Toddler Program provides a carefully prepared environment that channels their natural curiosity into meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. At this formative stage, children are introduced to the five key areas of the Montessori curriculum: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture.

Through Practical Life activities such as pouring, sweeping, dressing, and food preparation, toddlers build essential everyday skills that support independence, concentration, coordination, and self-confidence. The Sensorial curriculum engages their developing senses through materials that refine perception, categorisation, and cognitive processing.

Language development is fostered through rich conversations, storytelling, and activities such as the sandpaper letters and sound boxes, which encourage self-expression, phonetic awareness, and vocabulary building. Mathematical concepts are introduced through hands-on materials that explore size, quantity, and pattern, while the Cultural curriculum sparks curiosity about the world through experiences in geography, nature, art, and music.

Social and emotional development is nurtured through collaborative activities, guided group experiences, and respectful interactions, helping toddlers learn to express their emotions, build empathy, and form trusting relationships with peers and educators.

This stage is a critical time for forming lifelong habits of independence, emotional resilience, responsibility, and purposeful exploration. With guidance from trained Montessori educators, toddlers gain confidence in their abilities and build a strong foundation for future learning.

Montessori Preschool Program (3–6 years)

The Preschool Program at our Montessori Belmore Central childcare centre offers a rich and comprehensive curriculum that nurtures the academic, social, and emotional development of children aged 3 to 6. This critical stage lays the foundation for school and lifelong success by fostering independence, focus, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.

Children engage in an integrated, hands-on curriculum across the five key areas of the Montessori program: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture. Through these carefully sequenced activities, children develop core school readiness skills, including early literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and self-regulation.

A strong emphasis is placed on foundational mathematics and language development, with children exploring number concepts, place value, the decimal system, and mathematical operations using tactile materials like the golden beads, number rods, and spindle boxes. Literacy skills are supported through phonetic awareness, sandpaper letters, movable alphabet activities, early writing, and reading practice.

Social development is nurtured through collaborative work, conflict resolution, and grace and courtesy lessons that teach children how to interact respectfully and empathetically with others. Public speaking and group presentations are woven into the daily routine, allowing children to build confidence in expressing their ideas, sharing discoveries, and speaking clearly in front of their peers.

In addition to core academics, children explore science, geography, art, music, and cultural studies, developing a well-rounded understanding of the world around them. Through Practical Life activities, children continue to build autonomy, responsibility, and a sense of contribution to their community.

Our approach ensures that children are not only ready for school — they are ready for life. They leave the Montessori Preschool Program equipped with the skills, mindset, and emotional intelligence to thrive in any environment.

Each of our programs is grounded in Montessori principles of respect, independence, and individualised learning, allowing every child to progress at their own pace under the guidance of trained Montessori educators.

Montessori Principles in Practice at Belmore Central Childcare

The Montessori method is based on over 100 years of educational research and experience. At its core are principles that honour each child’s natural development and encourage them to become independent, curious, and capable learners.

Key Montessori principles you’ll see in practice at Belmore Central include:

  • Prepared Environments that invite hands-on learning and discovery
  • Freedom within limits, giving children choice within structure
  • Self-directed learning, promoting deep focus and intrinsic motivation
  • Respect for the child as an individual
  • Observation and guidance by educators who support rather than instruct

These principles create a nurturing foundation for lifelong learning and are embedded in every aspect of our programs.
