By Montessori Academy19/08/25

On Saturday 16th August, Montessori Academy celebrated the grand opening of their new Bexley Childcare and Early Learning Centre at 11 Highworth Avenue, Bexley NSW 2207. Montessori Academy Bexley welcomed local families and community leaders for a fun-filled celebration, showcasing the centre’s commitment to quality early education and care.

The event drew over 500 guests and offered families a first-hand look at our state-of-the-art learning environment, purpose-built to support children from infancy through to preschool. Visitors explored beautifully prepared Montessori classrooms, where children engaged in practical life stations, sensory play, and skill-based learning designed to nurture independence, spark curiosity, and support each child’s unique journey.

As part of the festivities, families enjoyed fresh pizza baked onsite, colourful face painting, tasty gelato, and warm conversations with our passionate educators. The day was a true celebration of community, learning, and fun, further elevated by the support of special guests Ms Ash Ambihaipahar MP for Barton, Councillor Heidi Lee Douglas – Bayside Council Deputy Mayor, and Father Yacub Barkat. Their presence underscored the importance of expanding access to quality early education for families in Bexley.

Speaking on the value of the sector, Ms Ash Ambihaipahar highlighted the important role of childcare in the community:
“Knowing that Montessori Academy is another centre in our local area is an opportunity to celebrate the good works of the industry that is providing for the next generation here in Australia. It’s really important to understand as the local member, my role is not only just to turn up to wonderful opportunities like this celebration, but also to represent you in the industry of childcare and to let you know I’m here to support you with anything you need.”

Councillor Heidi Lee Douglas also shared a personal reflection, drawing on her own family’s Montessori experience:
“My own family entered childcare at a Montessori. My son is now 14 and his childcare started at two at a Montessori, they were very open minded as he was a very quirky kid. He has grown up with great confidence and now is at a local selective high school. I believe his education started well with Montessori.”

Her words reinforced the impact of Montessori education, not only as a strong start for young learners, but also as a foundation for lifelong confidence and achievement.
