Montessori Academy Providing Casual Care for Wednesday Childcare Strike

On Wednesday 8th March, Montessori Academy, Australia’s leading Montessori early education group, will open its doors at various locations from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm to provide casual childcare for families affected by childcare strike action.

More than 1,000 childcare workers are expected to walk off the job at 3:20pm this Wednesday to draw attention to the pay gap between male and female dominated professionals.

Director of Montessori Academy, Colette Assaf, has commented that the company is supportive of highlighting the important contribution that early childhood educators make to the Australian economy. However, management is also very conscious of the strike’s impact on families.

“While we support awareness raising for women’s rights, we also want to provide families with certainty around the education and care of their children.

“For this reason, all Montessori Academy services will be opening their doors to casual bookings. We want to provide affected families with a childcare option that is guaranteed to be open without disruption,” said Colette Assaf.

Montessori Academy’s 20 Sydney-based locations are offering casual childcare placements to assist families affected by the childcare strike.

Locations include: Alexandria, Auburn, Barangaroo, Bankstown, Burwood, Castle Hill, Condell Park, Croydon, Parramatta Entrada, Glebe, Gymea, Greenacre, Lane Cove, Leichhardt, Macquarie Park, North Parramatta, Penrith, Smithfield, Strathfield and Zetland.
