On Monday, 4th November 2024, the iconic MacLaurin Hall at the University of Sydney became a home of celebration and dedication to education as it hosted the 19th Annual Australian Lebanese Foundation (ALF) Scholarship Dinner.
Montessori Academy CEO, Charles Assaf, was invited as a distinguished guest speaker and delivered an inspiring speech that resonated deeply with the ALF’s mission to foster education, create connections, and provide opportunities for the Australian community. Reflecting on Montessori Academy’s shared values with the ALF, Mr. Assaf shared:
“At Montessori Academy, our vision is to build a strong foundation for children, a mission that aligns closely with the ALF’s commitment to fostering education and creating opportunities,” Assaf remarked. He praised the ALF for its progressive and inclusive approach, which mirrors the Montessori philosophy of nurturing creativity, independence, and leadership in future generations.”
In line with the ALF’s goal of empowering individuals through education, Assaf announced several key initiatives that further strengthen this partnership. Most notably, he unveiled a new $50,000 scholarship program designed to support students from the community in pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. This exciting new initiative includes a a three-year scholarship program in collaboration with the ALF, designed to empower students with the skills to deliver world-class education.
The evening celebrated the enduring partnership between Montessori Academy and the ALF, which continues to open doors for students from diverse backgrounds.
“Over the last few years, we have successfully sponsored over 100 staff, and we hope to see this initiative continue to flourish.”
Mr Assaf also spoke passionately about the broader social impact of Montessori Academy’s work. He introduced Montessori Care, a new venture providing in-home aged and disability care services across New South Wales. In a groundbreaking move, Montessori Care is launching Australia’s first intergenerational daycare facility, where children and elderly individuals will learn from one another in a shared environment. This initiative reflects both Montessori Academy’s and ALF’s dedication to fostering connections across generations, an example of respect, independence, and lifelong learning.
This breadth of commitment underscores a shared belief in education as the cornerstone of societal progress:
“Together, we can build a brighter future where every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.”
Further underscoring his commitment to giving back to the community, Assaf announced ongoing support for displaced communities in Lebanon and Maronite Eparchy projects in Australia. “Together with your support,” Assaf said, “we are expanding our social responsibility and making a meaningful difference.”
The event was a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision. Through this sponsorship, Montessori Academy not only reaffirms its dedication to early childhood education but also champions the role of tertiary education in shaping future educators and leaders.
The 19th Annual ALF Scholarship Dinner was more than just a celebration—it was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations unite to support education and community development. Montessori Academy is honoured to play a pivotal role in this journey and looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the ALF and the broader educational community.
“Together with the ALF, we are building a future where education and care form the foundation of a better society.”
