Montessori is a transformative educational model that can make a significant contribution to the educational outcomes for children from all social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Practical Life is one of the most controversial areas within the Montessori Curriculum. This is because people often question the educational benefits of Practical Life Activities, such as watering plants, sweeping, cleaning and folding. It’s not uncommon for people to ask why children need to learn to wash dishes and pack away, instead of simply leaving them to play. So why is Practical Life so important?

On Wednesday 20th May Montessori Academy hosted a Montessori training session focused on Sensorial Education at the North Parramatta campus.

On Monday, 11 May Montessori Academy hosted a child development training session to explore the link between child development, the Montessori curriculum, and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).

Grace and Courtesy lessons are an important part of Montessori Academy's Practical Life Curriculum. In fact, the skills children learn as part of the Grace and Courtesy lesson program are just as important as Maths, Music and Language. This is because lessons on Grace and Courtesy provide children with explicit instructions on how to interpret and react to different social situations and behaviours.

On Saturday 18th April Montessori Academy hosted an introductory training session to the Prepared Environment and the Practical Life Curriculum at our Croydon centre.
